Repairing items instead of replacing them is good for the planet, good for your wallet and good fun! There are many ways to give your broken belongings a new lease of life but repair cafés and clubs where volunteers share their skills are becoming increasingly popular. Some specialise in items such as clothes or electricals, and others are more general. Here are some repair events in our local area:

·       Mend It! Textile repair club, The Hearth, Horsley, 4th Tues of each month https://www.thehearth.co.uk/whatson/mend-it!/community

·       Transition Tynedale, run ‘Just Fix It’ events on a Saturday in Hexham Library several times a year https://transitiontynedale.co.uk/news-events-2/

·       ‘Fix-it’ café, Community Kitchen at the Star and Shadow Cinema, Warwick St, Newcastle upon Tyne https://www.starandshadow.org.uk/groups/community-kitchen/

·       Morpeth Repair Café – 1st Saturday of each month, Barnabas Safe & Sound on Dark Lane in Morpeth https://therestartproject.org/groups/morpeth-repair-cafe/

·       Jesmond Repair Café, Newcastle upon Tyne, 4 sessions a year https://www.repaircafe.org/en/cafe/jesmond-repair-cafe-newcastle-upon-tyne/

·       Transition West Gateshead, run Fix It Cafes in cooperation with local group "Fix It Cafe", at Blaydon Library. Also run events encouraging reuse, repair, recycle in other community buildings around West Gateshead. https://transitionwestgateshead.org/
